Sirens of Saville Row
“Sirens of Savile Row” an AW25 RTW Womenswear Collection
A brand extension project for Huntsman. Having a huge admiration for bespoke tailoring, & suiting, I gave myself a challenge: develop it into a modern sense by playing with fabrication, colours & more. Taking traditional wear and modernizing it could be a challenge, part of it being keeping a balance between the vintage look vs modern trends. Some brands go overboard, while others resist changing too much resulting in a garment that is outdated. Which is why for my brand of choice: with no hesitation, I thought of Huntsman. With a remarkable heritage, & history, this brand has cleverly evolved and adapted into the modern world while preserving their tradition. Apart from that, I deeply admire the branding, & aesthetics of Huntsman.
One way the brand has emerged into the modern world is through films. A great concept, as I also have an admiration for costume designing/styling. One in particular where I get the best of both worlds, tailoring & a thrill, is in: The Kingsman Films. Spy films have something special; the thrill, mystery and dynamic of it all has always been fascinating to me. The films are set in & based off of the Huntsman shop. The costumes were timeless and elegant, however one piece that stood out to me was the orange tux worn by ‘Eggsy’ in the Kingsman: Golden Circle film. This is a perfect example of taking something traditional and adapting it to fit a more modern gaze by manipulating textiles and colours.
Creative Process
Merging the masculine structures of suiting and adapting them into the modern lifestyle of women today. Each piece is designed for a variety of lifestyle activities that include: a study session at the library, a walk in the city, a horseback ridding session, a formal dining, a weekend hunt, and lastly, a meeting at the office. With all that in mind, I chose to keep the designs practical. Instead I played with small details & colours to amplify the designs. The colour harmony of the collection focuses on bringing autumns rich & bold tones and setting them as the collections “neutral” tones.
The main garment most designs derived from was a suit. Other garments I incorporated were either for formal events, or more activity based such as hunting jackets and riding pants. It was important for me to create a range that would suit different types of women or even one women who partakes in a variety of routines. I’m content with how everything turned out and aligned in the end.
As of now this is only an illustrative collection, however one day I would love to produce some of these looks. Stay tuned for when that happens!
Composed 20 illustrations, all done by hand, with corresponding technical drawings. This collection is featured in my portfolio. For more details about this project you can contact me via email or contact form.
Thank you & I hope this has inspired you to create!
